The largest mall in North America

A ride in a hair-raising roller coaster, a daily sea lion show and a giant swimming pool full of exciting slides: the West Edmonton Mall has everything and more. This enormous mall has given a whole new meaning to the term entertainment. Oh and of course there is plenty of shopping!

Skating and penguins

The West Edmonton Mall offers something for everyone, even for the little ones who will quickly grow bored with shopping. In the Marine Life aquarium, kids can admire over 100 species of fish, turtles, sharks, penguins and reptiles. The 4 sea lions at Sea Lions’ Rock perform a daily show. Sports fans will also enjoy the mall: skate on the huge Ice Palace’s skating rink or hit some balls on the 18-hole golf course at Professor Wem’s Adventure Golf. This is a covered miniature golf park, with mini bunkers, mini waterways and large cartoon characters. After a day of shopping, you can unwind at the large bowling alley.

Pure adrenalin

One of the largest attractions of the West Edmonton Mall is Galaxyland. This amusement park offers 24 spectacular rides, including the thrilling Mindbender: a roller coaster with 3 loops. The youngest visitors will have fun at the playgrounds, train rides and go-carts. Water lovers will make a splash in the World Waterpark. This tropical swimming pool complex features 17 different waterslides and play formations that range from fun easy ones to adrenalin-filled descents. One of the latest attractions is the Hurricane: get inside a large inflatable ball and then run (and bounce) across the water, like a hamster on a treadmill.

Shopping in Chinatown

It would take at least 3 days to visit all the shops in the mall, so we recommend taking some time to plan ahead and choose the shops you would really like to visit. Make sure you don’t miss the thematic streets, such as the Europa Boulevard and Chinatown, making visitors feel as if they actually are in Europe and China. Conclude the day on a culinary note at Bourbon Street, a replica of the famous street in New Orleans. The selection there is huge, ranging from an elegant dinner to a quick slice of pizza.
