Transport to O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB), Johannesburg

About a half an hour drive and 21 km from the city centre, the airport has several transport connections. A popular new way for you to get there is via the Gautrain service (pronounced “how-train”). Running from around 05:30 – 20:30 at intervals of 12 to 30 minutes, it links Johannesburg’s major suburbs and business districts with the airport. A more flexible choice is a taxi. Fares are usually very cheap, and the yellow lights make identification easy. As a last resort, you can hop on buses in the city centre. However, as they are generally very crowded, this option may be best for seasoned visitors.
